Educational Concerts

Fry Street Quartet completed a three-year tenure in Hickory, North Carolina (1999-2002) as part of Chamber Music America’s Rural Residencies program. While in residence, the quartet performed more than 100 community engagement concerts each year. Deeply committed to audience-building, the quartet has continued its community development, performing residencies at colleges, universities, public schools, hospitals, retirement homes, and service club meetings in communities around the world. The quartet has earned much acclaim for its commitment to excellence in community engagement and has performed its preschool program as part of a panel on community development at Chamber Music America’s national conference.

Fry Street Quartet has developed a series of arts-in-education programs for a wide variety of settings and for audiences of all ages. Each program is designed to reach specific audiences and ages, interspersing selections and commentary from a wide range of literature.

Representative programs include:
  • Preschool Programs
Goldilocks and the Three Bears, An Extraordinary Egg, Shy Charles
  • Elementary School Programs
    Concerts are Cool!, Composer Idol
  • Informances and Lecture Demonstrations
  • Residencies and Master Classes
  • Customized Audience Development
Select demographics and potential new subscribers in specific niches

“The Fry Street Quartet are master educators.  They have developed a keen awareness of the specific needs of each of their audiences. Whether it be a preschool crowd of wiggly children or an informal gathering of teens, they are professional, engaging and relevant.”

The String Program at Utah State University’s Caine College of the Arts

The String Area at Utah State University is like no other. To be a music major in the string area, either music education or performance, means to join a highly motivated, tightly-knit group of students who receive an extraordinary amount of attention and care from their mentors. Lessons, orchestra, and chamber music are intensive and involve interaction with the entire string faculty. In addition, there are a rich array of additional events such as master classes, pedagogy seminars, and concerts to both perform in and attend. In the past several years, guest artists have included violinist Andres Cardenes, members of the Emerson String Quartet, violinist and pedagogue Brian Finlayson, cellist Paul Katz, and violinist/conductor Pinchas Zukerman, to name just a few.

We invite all prospective students to explore our program! Please feel free to contact us, and/or attend some of the exciting events that are nearly constant throughout the academic year.
